Chrysotus Meigen, 1824: 40 View in CoL . Type species: Musca nigripes Fabricius , designation by Westwood, 1840: 134).

Remarks. None of the species re-described here fits in the current definition of Diaphorus proposed by Robinson and Vockeroth (1981). Hence, transferring the species treated in this paper to Chrysotus improves the present definition of Diaphorus (even though this is a temporary taxonomic solution for Chrysotus ; see Discussion below).
