General distribution: Red Sea endemic.

Remarks: Previous records of Saurida undosquamis (non Richardson 1848) and S. macrolepis (non Tanaka 1917) from the Gulf of Suez are based on this species ( Russell et al. 2015). Lessepsian migrant into eastern Mediterranean (see Ben-Tuvia 1966, as Saurida undosquamis ; Russell et al. 2015).
