Diagnosis. Mandibles longer than length of clypeus with five irregular teeth on inner margin. Clypeus slightly longer than wide, weakly emarginate apically. Female with cephalic foveae present. Thorax globular, distinctly longer than high. Pronotal carina well developed. Anterior face of pronotum smooth. Pretegular carina present. Mesoscutum with notauli present. Tegula elongate, emarginate posteriorly, not reaching posterior end of parategula. Axillary fossa narrow, slit like. Scutellum and metanotum nearly flat. Propodeal valvula produced. Mesepisternum with epicnemial carina present. Posterior ends of propodeum with dentiform projections. T1 longer than wide, dorsal view stout, gradually widening from base to apex with longitudinal striations. S1 irregularly rugose posteriorly. T1 & T2 usually without apical lamellae. S2 more convex than T2. Mid tibia with one apical spur. SMC2 basally acute. Prestigma more than half length of pterostigma. ♂: F11 hook like, long and rounded apically; F10 shorter than F9; apical flagellomeres without cavity on inner margin. Body length usually 15–20 mm.
Distribution. Ethiopian, Oriental and Palearctic regions.
Remarks. No specimens from south India examined, but its diagnosis is based on its inclusion in an unpublished key by one author (Carpenter, J.M.).
