Eurrhynchium Dalla Torre 1904: 33 , name for division II of Rhynchium Spinola in de Saussure 1852: 105 View in CoL . Type species: Vespa oculata Fabricius, 1781 , by subsequent designation ( van der Vecht & Carpenter 1990: 53).

Rhynchium: Girish Kumar & Sharma 2013: 105 –106 View in CoL .

Diagnosis. Mandibles elongate, longer than length of clypeus, distinctly cross each other. Clypeus little longer than wide, normally truncate apically. Cephalic foveae present in depression on vertex of female. Vertex not sloping behind ocelli. Pronotal anterior face smooth and shiny without median foveae. Pronotal carina complete. Epicnemial carina present. Pretegular carina present. Tegula longer than wide, emarginate adjoining parategula, not reaching posterior end of parategula ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 25 – 30 ). Notauli absent. Scutellum and posterior part of mesoscutum smooth, at most finely and sparsely punctuate, slightly shiny ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 25 – 30 ). Metanotum angled, depressed medially and bluntly projecting laterally, as seen from above. Axillary fossa narrow ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 25 – 30 ). Metanotum not dentate. Propodeal dorsum below plane of metanotum. Superior carina absent. Propodeum with median longitudinal furrow with transverse ridges posteriorly. Propodeum toothed laterally (crenulate). Propodeal valvula not free from submarginal carina posteriorly. Metasoma sessile, T1 wider than long. T1 and T2 without lamellae ( Fig. 84 View FIGURES 79 – 85 ). SMC3 separated from apex of marginal cell by a distance longer than its minimum width ( Fig. 61 View FIGURES 55 – 63 ). Parastigma as long as pterostigma ( Fig. 61 View FIGURES 55 – 63 ). Mid tibia with one apical spur ( Fig. 46 View FIGURES 37 – 47 ). Ƌ: F11 hook like, rounded apically; F11, F10 shorter than previous ones; no cavity on inner margin. Body length usually 15–25 mm.
