Pareumenes de Saussure 1855: 133 View in CoL , division of genus Eumenes Latreille View in CoL (4 species). Type species: Eumenes quadrispinosus de Saussure, 1855 View in CoL , by subsequent designation ( Bequaert 1918: 271).

Diagnosis. Mandibles elongate, wider at base, distinctly cross each other. Clypeus as long as wide, deeply emarginate apically. Female with two cephalic foveae present ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ). Vertex not sloping behind ocelli. Mesosoma more or less flattened dorso-ventrally, distinctly longer than high ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 13 – 18 ). Anterior face of pronotum smooth and shiny without medial pits or foveae. Pronotal carina present. Mesoscutum with deep notauli on anterior portion ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 25 – 30 ). Epicnemial carina absent ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 13 – 18 ). Pretegular carina well developed. Tegula narrow, longer than wide, emarginate posteriorly and reaches end of parategula ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 25 – 30 ). Metanotum not dentate. Axillary fossa narrow ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 25 – 30 ). Propodeum with no dorsal surface behind metanotum, sloping posteriorly. Median carina arises from fovea or longitudinal slit on anterior portion of propodeum. Propodeum sometimes dentate postero-laterally. Propodeal orifice wide dorsally. Submarginal carina not projected as pointed process above valvula ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 37 – 47 ). Propodeal vuvlula not free from submarginal carina. Metasoma petiolate, gradually widening near apex sometimes with a longitudinal forrow apically. S1 more or less gradually widening from base to apex, rather regularly transversely striate. T1, T2 and T3 often lamellate apically. Mid tibia with one apical spur ( Fig. 45 View FIGURES 37 – 47 ). SMC2 basally acute. Prestigma longer than pterostigma ( Fig. 56 View FIGURES 55 – 63 ). ♂ antennae hooked. Body length usually more than 20 mm.

Distribution. Ethiopian, Oriental and Palearctic Regions.
