In Tarucus theophrastus (Fabricius) the transition zone has a star like appearance with radially elongated cells. The tubercle-aeropyle zone has elongated cells perpendicular to the radius and large tubercles crowned by aeorpyles. The bottom of the cells has a rough surface. Annular zone is very small with a four petalled micropylar rosette and two series of cells, the first one with simple and the second with numerous chorionic outcrops.
