In Zizeeria knysna (Trimen) the egg has flattened annular and transition zones. The transition zone has irregular cells with not very prominent walls. Tubercles in the tubercle-aeropyle zone show large and distally flattened tips and cells with high walls. Cells of the transition and tubercle-aeropyle zone have a spongy bottom. The annular zone is reduced and has two or three series of cells and a micropylar rosette with four petals.
