Distribution

In Lao PDR: Bolikhamxai Province: Ban Phonkham ( Francis et al., 1999 a; W. G. Robichaud, in litt.).

Note

This sole record for this genus in Lao PDR relates to a captive photographed in 1998 in a small, remote village (Plate 18, pg. 227 of Francis et al., 1999 a). The individual represents one of P. vampyrus Linnaeus, 1758 , P. giganteus Brünnich, 1782 or P. lylei Andersen, 1908 . This locality record falls outside the known range of all these three species. There is the possibility that this was a trade specimen from elsewhere, but given the remoteness of the village, it seems more likely that it was a natural vagrant.
