Type species: Saperda brunnipes Gahan, 1888 , monotypic and original designation.
Description. Medium-sized. Head broad with hardly tumid eyes, not quite as broad as prothorax; front flat, usually broader than long, sometimes as broad as long (male), Lower eyelobe never broader than half of front (in frontal view). Antennae not stout, longer (male) or slightly shorter (female) than body length, basal antennomeres fringed beneath; scape short and expanded, distinctly shorter than third antennomere, third slightly longer (male) or distinctly longer (female) than fourth, fifth to tenth successively shorter, last slightly longer than tenth. Prothorax broader than long, slightly nodose just anterior to middle of each side, raised and subcarinate along median line. Scutellum linguaform, width subequal to (male) or broader (female) than long. Elytra as long as three times of head plus prothorax, subparallel, round or slightly truncated at apex. Legs stout, middle tibiae with lots of hairs externally, hind femur reaching third abdominal segment. Anterior coxal cavities narrowly open posteriorly. Claws simple. Male genitalia: lateral lobes moderately slender, length more than 3 times of width; tegmen slightly shorter than the whole median lobe; median struts about two thirds of the whole median lobe; internal sac moderately long, about twice of median lobe, with 3 special thin rods; rods longer than tegmen.
Diagnosis. Differs from Saperda Fabricius in prothorax having nodose just anterior to middle of each side. Differs from Mimocagosima Breuning in internal sac having special rods longer than tegmen or median lobe with median struts.
Distribution. South of China.
