p. 614: Heterocerus fausti Reitter, 1879 ; validity taxon, E: AB A: TM.

Distribution: Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan ( Sazhnev 2018c).

The validity of Heterocerus fausti Reitter, 1879 , previously considered a junior synonym of H. flexuosus Stephens, 1828 has been restored ( Sazhnev 2018c). The records of Heterocerus fausti for Uzbekistan ( Jacobson 1913; Zaitsev 1946) are not confirmed.

p. 613: Heterocerus fenestratus Thunberg, 1784 (Dermestes) ; add E: AB A: KI NTR

p. 614: Heterocerus fossor Kiesenwetter, 1843 ; add E: BY UK.

Distribution: Belarus ( Alexandrovitch et al. 1996); Ukraine: Kiev, D-r. Lgocki (ZMMU); Nikolayev Oblast, Kinburn Spit, 29.06.2007 V. Dyadichko (IBIW).

Distributed in Europe, Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Siberia ( Mascagni, 2014, 2016). The record “Kirg.” for this species in the Jacobson’s Catalog (1913) refers to the Kirghiz steppe. It was recorded from Kyrgyzstan (North Kirghizia, Issyk-Kul hollow and Inner Tien-Shan) by Ovchinnikov (1996), but these records require verification ( Litovkin & Sazhnev 2018).

p. 614: Heterocerus fusculus fusculus Kiesenwetter, 1843 ; add E: NT A: KI TD TM UZ.

Distribution: Russia: Leningrad Oblast ( Zaitsev 1907); St.- Petersburg, Lesnoy, 20.05.1862, А. Moravits (ZISP), and 29.05.1921, A. p. 614: Heterocerus heydeni Kuwert, 1890 ; validity taxon, E: ST KZ UK (Crimea) A: KZ TM UZ.

New taxonomic data on mud-loving beetles are provided based on morphological characters and DNA barcoding. Heterocerus heydeni was previously considered a junior synonym of Heterocerus flexuosus , but the authors support the validity of the species and restore the name. Specimens of Heterocerus hauseri Kuwert, 1893 were also studied, suggesting it as a possible junior synonym of Heterocerus heydeni ( Litovkin et al. 2019) .
