Celyphoma Emeljanov, 1971 View in CoL View at ENA

Type species: С elyphoma fruticulina Emeljanov, 1964, by original designation.

Generic diagnosis. The distinctive characters used by Emeljanov (1971) and Anufriev (2004) are modified as follows.

Body oval. Vertex quadrangular, distinctly wider than long, disc depressed, with anterior margin slightly arcuately convex or nearly straight, posterior margin obtusely concave. Frons long, the width near clypeus slightly narrower than upper margin; the upper margin quite arcuately or slightly concave, disc slightly elevated or flat, lateral margins distinctly elevated, median carina present. Frontoclypeal suture obtusely angulate. Clypeus triangulate, elevated medianly. Pronotum with anterior margin obtusely convex and posterior margin nearly straight, median carina clear or subobsolete. Mesonotum more or less triangular, with inverted “V or Y” carina at middle. Tegmen with distinct longitudinal and transverse veins, claval suture present, Sc and R forked near base, Sc branched, R vein single, M veins bifurcated, Cu not forked. Wing rudimentary. Hind tibia with one or two lateral teeth.

Male genitalia: Anal tube in dorsal view oval, longer than wide, apical margin straight or arched. Anal column short, situated at base half of anal tube. Hind margin of pygofer in lateral view nearly straight. Aedeagus symmetrical, phallobase with one pair or two pairs of lateral processes, and phallus always with a pair of ventral processes. Genital style in lateral view nearly triangular. Capitulum of style with a large lateral tooth.

This genus has many closely related species, which are very similar in appearance, therefore only the male genitalia reliably distinguish species. A key to the genus Celyphoma is provided, and 26 species including the two new species described below are listed. The key is predominantly adapted from Anufriev (2004). The key is based primarily on the aedeagus and anal tube.
