Type species: Gryllacris macilenta Pictet & Saussure, 1891
Discussion. The genus contains species with free media anterior and other species in which the media anterior is fused in basal area with the radius. But there are also intermediate forms, in which radius and media anterior run very close to each other but are not fully fused as e.g. in the type species of the genus, A. macilenta . Not for all species of the genus this condition has been described or figured so far. Therefore no taxonomic conclusions are drawn from that fact. The genus has been divided so far into two subgenera, a third subgenus is described in this publication.
