The genus Cochylimorpha Razowski, 1960 ( Stenodes Guenée, 1845 , nec Dujardin, 1844) was subdivided into several subgenera that subsequently were synonymized ( Razowski 1970b). This genus is exclusively Palaearctic and occurs from the most western part of the subregion to Japan ( Razowski 1992). The genus is most species rich in Central Asia with only a few species reported from the Oriental region ( Razowski 2002). The genus comprises 89 species that were described mainly from Russia (20 species) and China (9 species) ( Brown et al. 2005); seven species are described from Iran.
