Genus ADOXOMYIA Kertész View in CoL View at ENA
Adoxomyia Kertész, 1907: 499 View in CoL . Type species, Clitellaria dahlii Meigen, 1830 View in CoL by designation of Bezzi (1908: 75). Adoxomyia View in CoL proposed for Clitellaria View in CoL of authors (not Meigen, 1803) without description or inclusion of named species but available by indication through back reference to Speiser (1905: 406–407). Bezzi’s designation from eight species listed under Clitellaria View in CoL by Bezzi (1903: 5) and alluded to by Speiser.
Haplephippium Speiser, 1913: 138 . Type species, Haplephippium colossulus Speiser, 1913 View in CoL , by original designation.
Cormacantha Enderlein, 1914: 13 . Type species, Cormacantha maculiventris Enderlein, 1914 [= Haplephippium colossulus Speiser View in CoL ], by original designation.
Euclitellaria Kertész, 1923: 96 , 101. Type species, Clitellaria heminopla Wiedemann, 1819 View in CoL , by original designation.
Mixoclitellaria Lindner, 1935: 312 . Type species, Mixoclitellaria maculipennis Lindner, 1935 View in CoL , by monotypy.
Myxoclitellaria Lindner 1938: 72 . Unjustified emendation of Mixoclitellaria Lindner.
Adomyxia: Lindner & Freidberg, 1978: 53. Incorrect subsequent spelling.
Adoxomya: Lindner & Freidberg, 1978: 53. Incorrect subsequent spelling.
Adoxomyia argenteofasciata (Bezzi) .
Clitellaria argenteofasciata Bezzi, 1906: 232 View in CoL . ST ♀ [MZLS]: Ethiopia: Adì Ugrì. Cormacantha grisea Séguy, 1931: 650 View in CoL . HT ♀ [ MNHN] : Mozambique: Zambezi River , Alfiaté, upstream from Tambara. Syn. nov .
Adoxomyia argenteofasciata Bezzi View in CoL is a widespread Afrotropical species and as Woodley (2011) pointed out, Séguy (1930) did not compare Cormacantha grisea View in CoL with A. argenteofasciata View in CoL (at the time still placed in Clitellaria View in CoL ). We studied the female holotype of Cormacantha grisea View in CoL [MNHN] ( Fig.14 View FIGURES 13 – 18 ) and it agrees completely with the description of A. argenteofasciata View in CoL and all the other specimens from Africa which we identified as A. argenteofasciata View in CoL . The species is characterized by a small flange on the gena which is uncommon in this genus.
