Key to the species of Camarota View in CoL View at ENA (modified from Deeming, 1981)
1. Wing surface flat; R 2+3 narrowly separated as well from firstly R 1 and also from the Costa; apices of R 4+5 and M 1 equidistant from wing tip; M 1 curved apically; dm–m hardly more oblique than the anterior crossvein; head, thorax and abdomen cylindrical; ocellar triangle large, with a broad apex; external vertical seta present; arista with two basal aristomeres distinct; scutellum with a pair of marginal bristles apically situated.............................................................. 2
- Wing surface bowed downwards apically; R 2+3 fused with or in contact with R 1 and Costa throughout its length; R 4+5 strongly curved towards costa; M 1 ending at wing tip; dm–m strongly oblique; thorax hardly longer than wide; ocellar triangle with a triangular shape; vertical setae absent; arista with only one distinct basal aristomere; scutellum with the usual pair of apical marginal bristles bent forwards, so that they are situated at mid length of disc and are upright and cruciate; postgonite longer than pregonite............................................................................................ 4
2. Wing with anal lobe well developed; first flagellomere orbicular (males unknown)............. C. meghalayensis (Cherian) View in CoL
- Wing with anal lobe poorly developed; first flagellomere slightly longer than deep; pregonite longer than postgonite; hypandrium narrow......................................................................................... 3
3. First aristomere long; postgena narrow; hypandrium with base very bilobed.................. C. thenmalaensis (Cherian) View in CoL
- First aristomere very short; postgena of moderate size; hypandrium not bilobed................... C. cylindrica Deeming View in CoL
4. Frons broad, about 1.5 times the width of an eye; ocellar triangle broad at the base, nearly equilateral, and entirely light brown; gena broad; first flagellomere black basally; hypandrium distinctly thickened; surstylus not fused to epandrium............................................................................................. C. curvipennis (Latreille) View in CoL
- Frons long and narrow, subequal to the width of an eye; ocellar triangle narrower at the base, and also much more elongate, shining; gena narrow; first flagellomere brownish; hypandrium variable; surstylus fused to the epandrium............... 5
5. Ocellar triangle blackish; hypandrium moderately slender at base; surstylus very broad at base, slightly projected.............................................................................................. C. angustifrons Bezzi View in CoL
- Ocellar triangle brown; hypandrium thickened at base; surstylus conical........................... C. ugandae View in CoL sp. nov.
