Type species. Chiton undulatus Quoy & Gaimard, 1835 , non Wood, 1828 (= Onithochiton neglectus de Rochebrune, 1881 ) SD Gray 1847.

Genus distribution and range. The genus is known from South Africa, the Indian Ocean, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, China, Japan and the Central Pacific Ocean. Miocene–Recent.
