FAMILY PENTATOMIDAE LEACH View in CoL View at ENA
JOCELIA GRAZIA, CRISTIANO F. SCHWERTNER AND MARIA DEL CARMEN COSCARÓN
Six subfamilies of Pentatomidae were registered in Argentina: Asopinae , Cyrtocorinae, Discocephalinae , Edessinae , Pentatominae , and Podopinae . The subfamily Pentatominae is the most diverse worldwide, and following a new tentative tribal classification (Rider in press), already adopted in regional catalogs ( Cassis and Gross 2002; Rider 2006a), the Argentinean fauna now includes six tribes: Carpocorini with 24 genera and 84 species; Catacanthini with three genera and six species; Mecideini with one genus and one species; Menidini with one genus and one species; Nezarini with three genera and 16 species; Pentatomini with 21 genera and 44 species; Piezodorini with one genera and one species; Procleticini with six genera and nine species; Strachiini with one genus and two species; and two unplaced genera (with nine species). This catalog includes all species mentioned in literature, as occurring in Argentina, with the names updated.
