Material examined. 23 specimens: MNRJ 26930 ( 1, 252.0 mm), T, E- 546; MNRJ 26979 ( 4, 261.0–300.0 mm), T, D- 464; MNRJ 30645 ( 1, 374.0 mm), T, E- 534; MNRJ 30484 ( 6, 79.0–205.0 mm), T, E- 539; MNRJ 30485 ( 1, 244.0 mm), T, E- 545; MNRJ 30486 ( 6, 231.0–251.0 mm), T, E- 546; MNRJ 30487 ( 2, 205.0–325.0 mm), T, E- 541; MNRJ 30488 ( 2, 273.0–279.0 mm), T, E- 532.

Distribution. Collected from off Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro, at depths from 192 to 632 m. Merluccius hubbsi was described from off Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is known from 21 ° 30 ’ S to 49 ° S, southern Brazil to Argentina ( Cousseau 1993; Lloris et al. 2003; Menezes 2003 c).
