Taxonomy. Neacomys spinosus lenuipes Thomas, 1900 , “Guaquimay, near Bogota,” Cundinamarca, Colombia.

This species is monotypic.

Descriptive notes. Head-body 72-97 mm, tail 74—108 mm, ear 12-18 mm, hindfoot 20-24 mm; weight 12-22 g (mean 17 g). The Narrow-footed Bristly Mouse is small, with tail longer than head-body length and distinctly bicolored, at least near base, with small caudal scales. Hindfoot has long outer digits. Chromosomal complement is 2n = 35-36, FN = 40.

Habitat. Premontane or lower montane forests at elevations of 400-1750 m.
