It is phenetically very distinct from all others species of the genus because of the elytral pattern. Some
South
African specimens from southern Karoo,
Eastern
Cape
and
Free State
have red-orange rather than yellow colouration of elytra; the taxonomic value of this form needs morphological and molecular studies.
