Pothos crenatus
Linnaeus
,
Species Plantarum
, ed. 2, 2
: 1373. 1763
.
"Habitat in insula S. Thomae." RCN: 7021.
Lectotype
(Mayo in
Kew Bull.
36: 705. 1982): [icon] "
Dracontium acaule
, foliis lanceolatis, serratis
" in Plumier in Burman, Pl. Amer.: 27, t. 39. 1756.
Current name:
Anthurium crenatum
(L.) Kunth
(
Araceae
).
Note:
Specific epithet spelled
"crenata"
in the protologue.
Lourteig (in
Bradea
5: 339. 1990) wrongly treated this as illegitimate, on the grounds that its type (
Burman's
plate) was originally based on the Plumier plate that is the type of
P. acaulis
Jacq. (1760)
. However, the protologue of
Linnaeus'
name did not include
P. acaulis
so, as names cannot be made illegitimate through typification,
P. crenatus
is legitimate.
