( Figs 10 , 38, 39 , 40 , 62, 63 , 81 , 84 , 86 ) Diagnosis (male). Metepimeron brown ( Fig. 10 ). Femora mostly yellow, apical half of femur III brown ( Fig. 10 ). Tibia I not compressed. Tarsus I ( Fig. 62 ) brown, It 1–5 simple, cylindrical; It 2 with 1 long dorsal seta near apex and 1 sinuous dorsal bristle at apex, as long as segment; It 3 with anterior surface mostly bare. Tarsus II unmodified. Tarsus III ( Fig. 63 ) without row of long setae, IIIt 4 with 2–3 short posterodorsal setae that are curved at apex. Description. Male ( Fig. 10 ). Body length [ holotype ]: 2.4 mm. Wing length: 2.2 mm, width: 0.7 mm. Head ( Figs 38, 39 ). Similar to P . araza sp. nov. , except as noted. Face dark brown, covered with silvery pruinosity, narrowing in middle (at mid-length, narrower than width of anterior ocellus). Frons metallic green with some bluish reflections and covered by weak pruinosity. Occiput dark metallic green; row of postoculars black. Palpus thin, ovoid, 1.5 times longer than wide, 1/3 as long as head height, yellow with dense silvery pruinosity and covered with a few black, short hairs. Proboscis brown. Vertical setae as long as ocellars, ocellar setae divergent, one pair of postocellars very small. Antenna entirely dark brown. Thorax. Similar to P. araza sp. nov. , mesonotum and scutellum mostly metallic green with some bluish reflections; pleura dark brown, with some green to bluish reflections and little pruinosity, metepimeron paler brown. Legs. Legs yellow, except coxae II and III pale brown; It 2–5 dark yellow; tibiae II and III, apical half of femur III and entire tarsi II and III brown. Leg I. Podomere ratios: 17, 15, 10, 2, 3, 1, 1. Anterior surface of coxa I covered with short brownish setae, outer edge with 5 long black setae. Femur I with short vestiture of black setae, ventral surface bare, with row of long ventral setae decreasing in size towards apex, basal ones as long as 4 times diameter of femur at largest part (MSSC) ( Fig. 40 ). Tibia I slightly broader than tibiae II and III, with 2 posterodorsal setae at 2/6 and 3/6. It 1 with 2 ventral setae near base, with ventral row of short pale setae on apical half; It 2 with 1 conspicuous dorsal seta near apex and 1 sinuous bristle at apex ( Fig. 62 ); anterior surface of It 3 mostly bare, with anterior comb of short setae at apex. Leg II. Podomere ratios: 20, 25, 15, 6, 6, 3, 2. Coxa II with anterior row of long setae at apex, one at lateral margin twice longer. Femur II covered with short vestiture of black setae, except ventral surface mostly bare; with ventral row of pale short setae, 1–2 longer at base; 1 anterior and 1 posteroventral preapical seta. Tibia II with 1 dorsal seta at 1/6, 2 anterodorsal setae at 2/6 and 4/6, 1 anteroventral seta at 4/6, with 1 anterodorsal, 1 ventral, 1 dorsal, 1 posterodorsal and 1 posterior apical seta (dorsal one shorter). IIt 1 with 2 anterodorsal setae, at 2/6 and 4/6. Leg III. Podomere ratios: 22, 25, 4, 7, 6, 2, 2. Coxa III with 1 long lateral seta near base, as long as coxa, with 1 smaller near apex. Femur III covered by short vestiture of black setae, with 3–4 ventral short, pale setae on basal fourth, basalmost longer; 1 anterior preapical, 1 anteroventral and 1 posteroventral preapical short seta. Tibia III with 3 conspicuous anterodorsal setae at 1/6, 3/6 and 4/6, with 4 dorsal setae at 2/6, 3/6, 4/6 and 5/6, with set of 1 anterodorsal, 1 anteroventral and 1 posteroventral apical seta, with row of ventral setae from 1/3 to 2/3. IIIt 4 with 2–3 short posterodorsal setae, curved at apex ( Fig. 63 ). Wing. Similar to P. araza sp. nov. (see above). Except length of crossvein dm-m/last part of M 4 (“CuAx ratio”): 1.3. Abdomen ( Fig. 10 ). Mostly brown with greenish reflections. Tergite 1 entirely brown, lateral patches of tergites 2–4 yellow. Sternites 2–4 yellowish. Hypopygium. Capsule and surstylus brown, cercus pale. Female. Unknown. Type material. HOLOTYPE Ƌ, labelled: “ Brasil , AM [ Amazonas ], Manaus / Reserva Ducke / Igarapé [=stream] Tingá / Arm. Malaise / 12–22.vii.2004 / Henriques, A. col.” “ HOLOTYPE / Pseudosympycnus sehnali / Soares & Capellari [red label]” ( INPA ) . Holotype in good condition, antennae broken off, terminalia not dissected. PARATYPES : Same data as holotype except, [Igarapé] Acará , 02.ix.1993 / J.F. Vidal , Malaise (1 Ƌ, INPA ; 2 Ƌ MZUSP [one with detached genitalia stored in microvial with glycerin]) . Distribution. Brazil (State of Amazonas) ( Fig. 86 ). Etymology. Named after Peter Sehnal (NHMW), who facilitated the access to photos of the types housed in Vienna . Remarks. The new species is superficially similar to P. bickeli sp. nov. , but can be separated by the characters given in the key (see also “Comments” under P. bickeli ).
