Taxon discussion This species can be recognized by the pendent leaves, one row of areoles between costa and margin and pinnae sessile to adnate ( Moran 1995c ). Affinities of P. flagellare as well as the relationships among Polypodium s.s. species are still uncertain ( Tejero-Diez 2005 ).
