Figs 59 ¯72, 76 Diagnosis. Pygofer (Fig. 66) apex with spine-like process. Style (Fig. 70) blade thin, elongated, strongly curved dorsally. Aedeagus (Figs 71, 72) shaft enlarged to apex, with two pairs of short subapical processes and pair of short, triangular apical processes. Description. Length 8.6mm (male). Head ( Fig. 59 ), in dorsal view, with ocelli slightly closer to posterior than anterior margin of crown. Head (Fig. 60), in frontal view, with clypeus ca. 1.2 times longer than wide, lateral margins divergent towards apex. Head (Fig. 61), in lateral view, with crown-face transition striate near eye margin and with two carinae on middle. Forewing (Fig. 62) appendix moderately developed, as wide as first apical cell maximum width. Profemur PV row formed by 4-5 setae. Protibia, AD row formed by only very short setae. Other characteristics as described for A. adunca and generic description. Coloration. Head and thorax ( Figs 59 , 76) pale-yellow. Face (Fig. 60) dark-brown below crown margin. Forewing (Fig. 62) with apex of first, second and third apical cells gray. Legs and abdomen yellow. Other characteristics as described for A. adunca . Male terminalia. Sternite VIII (Fig. 63), in ventral view, 1.7 times wider than long; posterolateral margins rounded, slightly produced posterad; posterior margin straight. Valve (Fig. 64), in ventral view, 2.1 times wider than long; anterior margin straight; lateral margin excavated, convergent posterad; posterior margin excavated. Pygofer (Fig. 65), in lateral view, two times longer than maximum height; ventral margin almost straight; apex rounded; macrosetae dispersed on posterodorsal quadrant; apex in dorsal view (Fig. 66), with spine-like process surpassing pygofer apex. Subgenital plate, in lateral view (Fig. 65), not produced posteriorly as far as pygofer apex; in ventral view (Fig. 67), ligulate, 3.7 times longer than wide, slightly wider near midlength; microsetae on ventral surface, near external margin; apex rounded. Connective (Fig. 68) in posterior view, as wide as long; stalk short, wider apically; in lateral view (Fig. 71), stalk strongly curved ventrally; translucent keel dorsally, higher and conspicuous between arms. Style, in dorsal view (Fig. 69), with outer lobe small, truncated, without setae; in lateral view (Fig. 70), blade thin, elongated, strongly curved dorsally; ventral margin serrated medially; apex acute, directed dorsally. Aedeagus (Figs 71, 72) with preatrium strongly developed; dorsal apodeme reduced; shaft directed dorsally, cylindrical and enlarged to apex; two pairs of short subapical processes, anterior pair shorter and directed anterad, posterior pair longer and directed posterolaterally; shaft apex blunt, with pair of short, triangular apical processes. Other characteristics as in generic description. FIGURES 59─72. Acusana spina sp. nov. , male holotype. 59, head and thorax, dorsal view. 60, head and thorax, ventral view. 61, head and thorax, lateral view. 62, forewing. 63–72, male terminalia: 63, sternite VIII, ventral view. 64, valve, ventral view. 65, pygofer, valve, and subgenital plate, lateral view. 66, apex of pygofer, dorsal view. 67, subgenital plate, ventral view. 6 8, connective, posterior view. 69, style, dorsal view. 70, style, lateral view. 71, connective and aedeagus, lateral view. 72, aedeagus, posterior view. Scale bars: 59–61 = 1.0mm, 62 = 2.0mm, 63–67, 69–72 = 0.5mm, 68 = 0.25mm. Female unknown. Material examined. Holotype male : " Brasil , MT, Nova Ubiratã,\ E.S.E.C. The new species epithet is derived from the Latin word “spinam” meaning spine. It refers to the acute, spine-like pygofer process. Notes. Acusana spina sp. nov. differs from all species of Acusana in having the apex of pygofer, in dorsal view, with a long spine-like process and the aedeagus shaft widened apically with two pairs of subapical processes.
