Carex arenaria
Linnaeus
,
Species Plantarum
2
: 973. 1753
.
"Habitat in Europae arena, praesertim mobili." RCN: 7060.
Lectotype
(Egorova,
Sedges Russia
: 507. 1999): Herb. Linn. No. 1100.9 (
LINN
)
.
Current name:
Carex arenaria
L.
(
Cyperaceae
).
Note:
Stearn (in
Biol. J. Linn. Soc.
5: 10. 1973), in an account of
Linnaeus'
Oeland
and Gotland journey of 1741, treated Grankull in
Oeland
as the restricted type locality, and noted the existence of 1100.9 (LINN). In his paper, he attributed restricted type localities irrespective of whether any material existed in LINN and, where specimens do exist, he does not refer to any of them as type specimens. This LINN material, formally designated as
lectotype
by Egorova, is annotated as having come from
Skane
, rather than
Oeland
.
