The poor condition of the

and the meagre original description make it difficult to provide an adequate comparison of this species to any other iceryine. However we believe that this species belongs to the 
<taxonomicName id="7FE54D58FF9FFF87FECBB7E9FE43C5CC" box="[375,466,672,698]" class="Insecta" family="Monophlebidae" higherTaxonomySource="GBIF" kingdom="Animalia" order="Hemiptera" pageId="89" pageNumber="22" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="tribe" tribe="Iceryini">Iceryini</taxonomicName>
because the first-instar nymphs have 3 pairs of abdominal spiracles.

Green's original description of this species was based on a single adult female and embryonic first-instar nymphs extracted from the body of the female. The slide-mounted

is an old, sclerotized individual and the slide-mount is in terrible condition. It is very difficult to discern cuticular features, especially pore structure and distribution.

believed this species to be ovoviviparous because he extracted embryos from the body of the adult female. This is unusual for iceryine adult females, which either lay eggs into a marsupium or deposit the eggs beneath the body or in an ovisac. Thus iceryine eggs develop into embryos outside of the body rather than inside.

The original description does not give a specific locality, but states that the specimen was collected by Edward Jacobson in

between the years 1923 to 1927. The host plant is a bamboo species (
