"Habitat in India." RCN: 7736. Lectotype (Stevenson in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 40. 1993): [icon] "Todda-panna" in Rheede, Hort. Malab. 3: 9, t. 19. 1682 (see pp. 154-155). Generitype of Cycas Linnaeus. Current name: Cycas circinalis L. ( Cycadaceae ). Note: Stapf (in Bull. Misc. Inform. Kew 1916(12): 1-8. 1916) referred to Rheede's t. 13-21 as "the accepted basis of Linnaeus' species". Rheede's nine plates represent a number of different taxa (see Hill in Taxon 44: 23-31. 1995) and, for this reason, Stevenson designated Rheede's t. 19 as lectotype .
