New neotype designation. Centris denudans rubida Gribodo, 1891 : 111 . New synonymy . Diagnosis. Female: Clypeus and labrum reddish brown. Head and mesosoma with light orange pubescence. Fore leg with light brown pilosity ( Figs. 17, 18 ). Labrum triangular with longitudinal carina on lower half. Male: Lower paraocular area and labrum dark yellow ( Fig. 19 ). Clypeal disc dark yellow with light brown longitudinal spot ( Fig. 19 ). Labrum semicircular, without longitudinal carina on lower half. Inner orbits of compound eyes relatively parallel ( Fig. 19 ). This species is most similar to C . denudans . Females differ by the coloration of the pubescence on head (light orange in C . dimidiata , Fig. 17 ; dark brown in C . denudans ) and forelegs (light brown in C . dimidiata , Figs. 17, 18 ; dark brown in C . denudans ). Males differ by the coloration of the lower paraocular area and labrum (dark yellow in C . dimidiata , Fig. 19 ; light yellow in C . denudans ), and by the clypeal disc (dark yellow with light brown longitudinal spot in C . dimidiata , Fig. 19 ; light yellow in C . denudans ). Description. Neotype female. Measurements: Approximate body length: 24.4; head width: 7.45; thorax width: 9.4; forewing length: 17.0; UID: 3.9; LID: 3.9; mandible length: 3.3; mandible basal width: 2.0; F1 length: 1.8; F2 length: 0.4; F3 length: 0.4. Coloration: Integument dark brown on head, mesosoma and metasoma. Legs brown, lighter on fore leg ( Figs. 17, 18 ). Tegula orange to light brown ( Fig. 18 ). Wing membrane and veins dark brown with violet iridescence ( Fig. 18 ). Sculpture: Clypeus strongly areolate with coarse and very dense punctation (di<ds), with an impunctate longitudinal band on disc. Labrum with coarser and sparser punctures than on clypeus (di<ds). Terga and sterna finely areolate with fine, very dense and uniform punctation (di≈ds). Pubescence: Head and mesosoma with light orange pubescence, darker on vertex, clypeus and labrum ( Fig. 17 ). Upper posterior surface of head with some long and simple hairs. Middle and hind femora with brown pilosity. Middle and hind legs with dark brown pubescence ( Fig. 18 ). Basitibial plate with dense, dark brown pubescence. Metasoma with dark brown hairs, light brown on dorsal surface of T1. Structures: Mandible with three teeth of acute apex (1st>2nd≈3rd) ( Fig. 17 ). Clypeus relatively flat (lateral view). Trimal angle absent. Acetabular carina reaching base of second tooth. Vertex above upper ocular tangent ( Fig. 17 ). Inner orbits of compound eyes relatively parallel ( Fig. 17 ). Mesoscutum with two well-defined glabrous areas, also present on mesoscutellum, but smaller. Elaiospathes with compact primary combs. Secondary anterior comb formed by four giant apically curved hairs. Basitibial plate elliptical, with raised posterior edge. Secondary plate absent. Primary pygidial plate narrow, with slightly broad and rounded apex. Pretarsal claws with preapical tooth. Description of male. Measurements: Approximate body length: 21.9; head width: 6.9; thorax width: 9.9; forewing length: 19.4; UID: 2.4; LID: 3.1; mandible length: 2.9; mandible basal width: 1.7; F1 length: 1.5; F2 length: 0.4; F3 length: 0.4. Coloration: Integument dark brown on head, mesosoma and metasoma. Legs brown, fore legs lighter ( Figs. 19, 20 ). Tegula orange to light brown, translucent ( Fig. 20 ). Wing membrane and veins dark brown, with violet iridescence. Sculpture: Clypeus strongly areolate with coarse and dense punctation. Labrum with coarser and denser punctures than on clypeus. Terga and sterna with fine, very dense and uniform punctation. Pubescence: Head, mesosoma and fore leg with light orange pubescence, darker on vertex ( Figs. 19, 20 ). Upper posterior surface of head with some long and simple hairs laterally. Middle and hind legs with dark brown pubescence, lighter on femora ( Fig. 20 ). Metasoma with dark brown, long pubescence ( Fig. 20 ), light brown on dorsal surface of T1. Structures: Mandible with two teeth (2nd>1st); first tooth with acute apex, second concave ( Fig. 19 ). Clypeus slightly convex (lateral view), with concave disc (ventral view). Trimal angle absent. Acetabular carina reaching base of second tooth. Vertex above upper ocular tangent ( Fig. 19 ). Mesoscutum with two welldefined glabrous areas, also present on mesoscutellum, but smaller. Mesoscutellum with two rounded projections on dorsal surface. Pretarsal claws with well-developed preapical tooth. Type data. Centris dimidiata : Whereabouts unknown.
