Finnish Pipunculidae (Diptera) studies Part I: Taxonomic notes on Cephalops Fallén, 1810, Pipunculus Latreille, 1802 and Tomosvaryella Aczél, 1939 Author Kehlmaier, Christian text Zootaxa 2008 1672 1 42 journal article 50193 10.5281/zenodo.180216 f7c4a979-1dc7-400b-b5b0-eec6919fa931 1175-5326 180216 Pipunculus monticola Schummel, 1837 nomen dubium Pipunculus monticola Schummel, 1837 : 86 . The original description is based on a single specimen (sex unknown) collected on 20th July at “Wölfelsgrunde der Grafschaft Glatz” (nowadays Poland , Powiat Kłodzki, Międzygórze) by Schummel. Later, P. monticola was synonymized with P. v a r i p e s by Becker (1921: 156) , who does not seem to have studied the holotype . After Schummel’s death in 1848, his collection, which suffered from pests, was divided in 1849, partly through auction ( Groll 2006 ). At present, it is not clear where the Diptera went to, the Hymenoptera being located at the DEI for example. The holotype of P. monticola is presumably lost and the name has therefore to be regarded as a nomen dubium at present. From the brief description, the identity of the specimen cannot be established.
