Material examined . Brazil , Ceará: 1 male , 1 female , MZUSP 31500, approximately 15 km off Fortaleza, 18–20 m , in crevices of coral rubble, coll. C. Cerqueira & M. Soares, 21.iv.2013 [fcn PP 13-050]. Distribution . Western Atlantic: Bermuda , USA (Florida) to Tobago and Mexico (Yucatan), Brazil (Ceará, Bahia , Rio de Janeiro) (Soledade & Almeida 2013; Cunha et al. 2015 ; present study). Remarks . Alpheus peasei , one of the most common snapping shrimps associated with coral reef habitats in the Caribbean Sea (A. Anker, pers. obs.), has been recorded from Brazil only relatively recently (Santos et al. 2012). The scarcity of Brazilian records of A. peasei suggests that the species may be less common in the southwestern Atlantic, at least along the continental coast of Brazil .
