Alpheus peasei
, one of the most common snapping shrimps associated with coral reef habitats in the Caribbean Sea (A. Anker, pers. obs.), has been recorded from
Brazil
only relatively recently (Santos
et al.
2012). The scarcity of Brazilian records of
A. peasei
suggests that the species may be less common in the southwestern Atlantic, at least along the continental coast of
Brazil
.
