Remarks
: This species was described by
De Marmels (1989)
from Cerro La Neblina, Río Negro Department in
Venezuela
.
De Marmels (2004)
described the larva.
Bota-Sierra (2014)
reported
H. bariai
from
Colombia
(
Meta Department
) based on three males and one female. Here we report
H. bariai
from Amazonas,
Caquetá
,
Guaviare
and
Vaupés
Departments.
The males of this species are small (abdomen around
35 mm
) with color pattern similar to
H. falvidorsum
,
H. bickorum
and
H. mitratum mitratum
. They differ from
H. flavidorsum
and
H. m.
mitratum
because these two do not present ventrobasal convexity on cerci in mediodorsal view (
Figs. 9H
,
10H
), and from
H. bickorum
by the distance between bifurcation of medial process and tip of cerci close to one third the length of cerci in
H. bariai
(
Fig. 7G
), but close to half that distance in
H. bickorum
(
Fig. 8A
). Females are also small (abdomen around
31mm
) and very similar in color pattern to
H. breweri
; they differ by the shape of basal teeth of valves in ventral view, rectangular in
H. breweri
(
Fig. 13E
), but rounded in
H. bariai
(
Fig. 12H
).
