COMMENTS: Hartert had the single specimen when he described
quanzae
.

quanzae
as a subspecies of
Eu- plectes
axillaris
, but
Traylor (1962: 125)
called attention to the larger size of specimens from the Cuanza River and raised the possibility that
quanzae
should perhaps be considered a full species.
