Diagnosis. Wing length 1.4–1.6 mm . Fronto-orbital predominantly yellowish, brownish to upper fronto-orbital seta; pedicel brown; legs brown, with apex of femur and base of tibia yellow in the fore leg; calypter yellowish, fringe black. Aedeagus (Fig. 2 and 3 in Esposito 1994 ): basiphallus slightly sclerotized; mesophallus short and globose with one pair of extensions distally; subquadrate sclerite present between mesophallus and distiphallus; distiphallus forming two strong tubules bearing two fused projections distally. Comments. Calycomyza ipomoensis is similar to C. stegmaieri Spencer , from which it is differentiated by the shape of the distiphallus. So far, this species has only been associated with Ipomoea asarifolia , forming blotches on the surface of the leaf with frass deposited in continuous lines.
