Tropidonotus piscator obscurus Wall, 1907

[ Tropidonotus piscator ] var. obscurus Wall, 1907: 862 .—Type locality. Not given.—Onomatophores. Syntypes, not specified.

Status. A subjective junior synonym of Tropidonotus sanctijohannis Boulenger, 1890 , therefore (see above), junior synonym of Hydrus piscator Schneider, 1799 , now Xenochrophis piscator . Previously, this taxon had been synonymized with Natrix piscator by Smith (1943: 294).

Comments. Wall (1907) regarded this taxon as a variety of Tropidonotus piscator and provided a valid description. Wall obviously referred several specimens under this name. According to the morphological characters provided by Wall, we refer this variety to T. sanctijohannis Boulenger, 1890 .
