Another exotic species, the Kanzawa spider mite, T. kanzawai , was reported in 1994 by Ferreira and Carmona (as T. hydrangeae ), being more common in the north and centre of the country, where it is mostly associated with bean ( Phaseolus spp. ) ( Carmona and Dias 1996). There is one record of this species on Mentha suaveolens , a new host plant, in the INIAV acarological collection ( Table 1).
