Names.
Myanmar: katcho, ku-ku. English: wild sarsaparilla.
Range.
Throughout India, Myanmar, Malaya, and Sri Lanka.
Uses.
Root: Used as an emetic and diaphoretic; also to treat venereal disease.
Notes.
In India and Nepal, the root is used as a substitute for sarsaparilla in the treatment of syphilis and gonorrhea. Also, a decoction of the root is given for swellings, abscesses, and boils ( Nadkarni 1976).
