This species is also known only from Costa Rica, being previously recorded from Alajuela and Cartago provinces, and the Virilla River (Champion 1898, Hungerford 1932, Matsuda 1961b). It is herein recorded for the first time from Guanacaste, Heredia, Limón, Puntarenas, and San José provinces. Platygerris caeruleus is found on the riffles of lotic habitats along the Atlantic and Pacific slopes, up to 2,100 m a.s.l. This species was observed forming an aggregation in a river in Moravia, San José Province.
