Material: Czech Republic, Chodov “Chodau”: 1ɗ (lectotype), Stein ( UMO); Czech Republic, Aš “Asch”: 1ɗ (paralectotype), VII.1874, ( UMO); Germany, Saxony-Anhalt, LK BTF, Wolfen, Quetzer Berg, 1997: 1Ψ, Müller ( PCCK); Germany, Bremen, Rekumer Geest, 8°32’E 53°13’N: 1ɗ, 21.V.2001, Kehlmaier ( PCCK); Germany, Saxony, Dresden, Dresdner Heide, Prießnitztal, 13°46'E 51°05'N, 160m: 1ɗ, 31.V.2004, Kehlmaier ( PCCK) ( DNA CK 122); Germany, Saxony-Anhalt, Röblingen am See, ehemaliger Salziger See, 90m: 1Ψ, 17.VI.2006, Kehlmaier ( PCCK) ( DNA CK 90).

Male: Body length: 4.5–5.0mm. Wing length: 5.0– 5.1mm. Flagellum dark brown. Frons silver-grey pollinose. Eyes meeting less than length of frons (10–12 facets). Occiput in lower half grey, in upper half brown pollinose. Postpronotal lobe dark brown. Prescutum and scutum almost entirely brown pollinose, anterolaterally with some grey pollinosity, but can be considerably shining dorsocentrally. Pleura grey pollinose. Scutellum with apical hair fringe dense and long, longest hairs almost half the maximum length of scutellum ( Fig. 75 View FIGURES 74 – 83 ). Subscutellum grey pollinose. LTC about 0.5–0.8 times LFC. Halter dark. Leg dark brown, only femoraltibial joint narrowly yellow. Hind femur ventrally evenly and gently convex with many long hairs in basal half ( Fig. 81 View FIGURES 74 – 83 ). Pulvilli of front leg about half the length of distitarsi. Tergite 1 anterodorsally brown, otherwise grey pollinose. Tergites 2–5 anterolaterally brown, posterolaterally grey pollinose. Dorsally, tergite 2 brown pollinose in anterior two thirds, tergite 3 in anterior third and tergite 4 in anterior quarter to fifth, otherwise shining. Abdominal tergites densly pilose, more than in other species. Membranous area ovate but may be rather narrow. Surstyli elongated, in dorsal view longer than in P. oldenbergi and P. elegans ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). In lateral view, base not bulbous ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 1 – 8 ). Phallus with three very short ejaculatory ducts.

Female: Body length: 4.2mm. Wing length: 4.4mm. Flagellum dark brown. Frons grey pollinose except in upper third. Postpronotal lobe dark. Prescutum and scutum grey pollinose in anterior quarter and greyishbrown in posterior quarter, otherwise shining. Pleura and subscutellum grey pollinose. LTC about 0.5 times LFC. Leg dark only femoral-tibial joint narrowly yellow. Pulvilli of front leg as long or only slightly longer than distitarsi. Tergite 1 brown pollinose in anterodorsal half, otherwise grey pollinose. Tergites 2–6 laterally grey pollinose, otherwise shining except anterior third to half of tergite 2 with grey pollinosity. Ovipositor in lateral view with long and weakly curved piercer showing a distinct ventral step at the transition of base and piercer ( Fig. 49 View FIGURES 43 – 54 ).

Annotations: The original syntype series consisted of an unknown number of males collected at three localities in Bohemia (nowadays Czech Republic) ( Kowarz 1887; De Meyer 1996), of which two males remain at UMO. The specimen from Chodov was dissected and is designated and labelled as lectotype. From outside Europe, a female has been cited from Mongolia by Kozánek (1992).
