Peniculus fistula was collected from the caudal fin of Pagrus pagrus .
In the Mediterranean, this species has been reported by Raibaut et al. (1998) on several hosts, Atherina boyeri , Capros aper , Diplodus annularis , D. vulgaris , Mullus barbatus , M. surmuletus , Pagellus erythrinus and Zeus faber . In Algeria, it was collected in Bou-Ismaïl from C. aper ( Brian 1932) , in Arzew, Cherchell and Mostaganem from C. aper ( P. fistula f. caprosi), M. barbatus barbatus and M. surmuletus ( P.fistula f. mulli ) by Nunes-Ruivo (1954).
