Pap[ilio] Dan[aus] Cand[idus] medusa Cramer, 1777: 86 , 149, pl.150, fig. F [original plate 107, fig. B] (junior homonym of Papilio medusa Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775 [ Satyrinae ]). ‘Côte de Bengale’ [error; West African].

Material examined. No potential Cramer specimens located.

Current status. Invalid senior synonym of Leptosia dorothea (Fabricius, 1793) . Cited as a valid species in Leptosia ( Bridges, 1988; Ackery et al., 1995), but is invalid as Papilio medusa Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775 , preoccupies it.
