Recognition characters: Golden species; length 9–13 mm; mystax mostly white, three black bristles on top and few on lower corners; thorax golden yellow pollinose; scutellum golden yellow pollinose with two marginal scutellar bristles; wings hyaline; abdomen grayish yellow pollinose; legs, femora black with reddish brown streaks on ventroposterior sides; tibiae reddish brown, black apically; tarsi reddish brown.

Distribution: Yellowstone National Park: 11 km NW Continental Divide on Highway 16, elevation 2,733 m (9,000 ft), 20 July 1964 ( TEK) (specimen in CAS).

Habitat: Douglas fir forest (clearings within the forest where shrubs and grasses are dominant), and sagebrush steppe shrub and grassland vegetation types.

Ethology: Nothing known.
