This species is widespread in southern Asia. Copulatory organs of the present specimen coincide clearly with illustrations of this species provided by Zhu et al. (2003). The dorsal opisthosomal colouration is very similar to that of L. subtesselata Zhu, Song & Zhang 2003 , described from Taiwan. This difference, the presence of two prolateral spines on female tibia IV and minor differences in the internal duct system are considered intraspecific variation. Only males from Taiwan, type locality of L. subtesselata , can show, whether this is a valid species or probably a synonym of L. tesselata .
