Etymology. Named after the late Dr Don Colless, the collector of the holotype of this species.

Diagnosis. Kalamemiris collessi sp. nov. is recognised by the following combination of characters: body robust, elongate-ovoid; dorsum covered with semi-erect to decumbent white hair-like setae; pronotal surface rugopunctate; eyes stylate, glabrous; first antennal segment in male 0.18x, in female 0.2x and second antennal segment in male 0.8x, in female 0.75x head width; ocular index in male 2.27, in female 3.37; scutellum tumid and strongly punctate; cuneus reddish; male left paramere larger than right, distally hook-shaped, with apex truncate; right paramere spoon-like.

Description. Male. ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ) COLOURATION. Dorsum dark brown to dark reddish-brown, with yellow highlighting. Head posterior margin of vertex with transverse stramineous band; clypeus stramineous, with darker brown highlighting laterally; mandibular and maxillary plates dark brown; eyes red. First and second antennal segments stramineous; 3rd and 4th segments missing. Pronotum mostly brownish with yellow highlighting, darker brown punctuation; collar stramineous; callosite region and anterolateral angles of pronotum brownish. Scutellum mostly dark brown, medially with stramineous highlighting, apex uniformly stramineous; mesoscutum dark brown. Propleuron mostly dark brown, with ventral margin stramineous; mesepimeron mostly stramineous; evaporative area stramineous, remainder of metepisternum dark brown, with medial yellow callus. Hemelytra with base of clavus dark brown; R+M vein dark brown; claval vein, claval suture and commissure brown, costal margin stramineous; cuneus reddish with white irregular mosaic shape pattern; cell vein on membrane brown. Legs mostly stramineous; meso- and metacoxae brownish; femora with distal pale yellow band; tibiae with weak enbrownment; tarsi dark brown. Abdominal venter broadly stramineous laterally, with medial region and pygophore reddish brown. STRUCTURE. Body length 3.65 mm. Width of head across the eyes 1.42 mm. Interocular distance 0.75 mm. Width of eye 0.33 mm. Ocular index 2.27. First antennal segment 0.26 mm, 0.18x head width. Second antennal segment 1.14 mm, 0.8x head width, 0.74x posterior width of pronotum, cylindrical, narrow, elongate; 3rd and 4th segments missing. Pronotal length 1 mm, 2.59x wider than long; collar length 0.06 mm; anterior width 0.59 mm; posterior width 1.53 mm. Scutellum length 0.56 mm, anterior width 0.8 mm, hump shaped ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 c), posteriorly tapered. Labium reaching apices of mesocoxae. MALE GENITALIA. Genital opening of pygophore posterodorsal. Left paramere longer than right, interlocking medially, sensory lobe broad and narrow with short scattered setae, apophysis arcuate, broad, with distal flange and apical hook; right paramere basally broad and apically tapered, spoon-like ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ). In order to avoid damage or loss of the holotype the aedeagus was not studied.

Female. ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ) Colouration, vestiture, texture and structure mostly as in male except the following characters. COLOURATION. Clypeus dark brown; antennae brownish. Pronotum with midline narrowly stramineous. Evaporative area reddish brown. Thoracic pleura mostly dark reddish brown, with minor stramineous marking on mesepimeron. Procoxae stramineous; meso- and metacoxae reddish brown; profemora proximally stramineous and distally dark reddish brown; mesofemora dark reddish brown; tibiae stramineous with pair of dark reddish brown annulations. Abdominal venter mostly reddish brown, with SVIII yellowish laterally. STRUCTURE. Body length 3.94 mm. Width of head across the eyes in dorsal view 1.48 mm. Interocular distance 0.91 mm. Width of eye 0.27 mm. Ocular index 3.37. First antennal segment 0.3 mm, 0.2x head width. Second antennal segment 1.11 mm, 0.75x head width, 0.7x posterior width of pronotum, weakly incrassate distally; 3rd antennal segment 0.27 mm and 4th antennal segment 0.32 mm, both filiform, short. Pronotal length 0.7 mm, 2.56x wider than long; collar length 0.08 mm; anterior width 0.62 mm; posterior width 1.59 mm. Scutellum length 0.69 mm, anterior width 0.84 mm, strongly convex, pyramid shaped ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 d), steeply declivent posteriorly. Labium reaching metacoxae. Bristle like white setae in female very short. In order to avoid damage or loss of the paratype the female genitalia was not studied.
