Holotype. ♂. Ecuador, Esmeralda , vicinity Bisly, VI-22-1999, F. Hovore ( FSCA). (Specimen pin mounted, support card, gender label affixed to support card; mount card with antenna; locality label; FSCA acronymic label; holotype label; plastic vial with abdomen and aedeagus.)

Diagnosis. The middle of the elytra has a broad, slightly diagonal, yellow fascia that fades as it extends to the sutural margin. This character will distinguish the members of this species from those of other species in the incerta species-group, as will the shape of the aedeagus ( Fig. 177 View Figs ).

Description. Size: Length 6.6 mm; width 2.7 mm. Form ( Fig. 154 View Figs ): Oblong subovoid. Integumental color ( Fig. 59): Cranium mostly yellow, dark markings behind eye continuous with infuscation at pronotal disc; pronotum mostly yellow, disc dimly infuscated; elytra mostly dark brown, with wide yellow fascia that fades towards sutural margin, but extends posteriorly for a short distance along sutural margin; profemora yellow in anterior facies, brown in posterior facies, mesofemora and meta femora mostly yellow, with brown dorsal line, tibiae yellow, tarsi brown. Head: HW/PW 1.0; frons not indented; EW/VW 3.2; antenna as in Fig. 162 View Figs , funicle not compressed. Thorax: Pronotum with minute transverse wrinkles at middle of disc, PL/PW 1.0; elytra broad, subovoid strongly, epipleuron expanded, EL/PL 3.3; EL/EW 1.9; anterior margin of protibia with 12 spines. Male genitalia: Aedeagus as in Fig. 177 View Figs .

Natural History. The available specimen was collected in April.

Distribution. Known only from the type locality ( Map 5 View Map 5 ).

Etymology. The trivial name gremia is a Latin adjective that stems from gremium (= middle) and refers to the equatorial distribution of this species.

divisa species-group

The members of this group are easily distinguished by the reddish-yellow coloration of the pronotum with many specimens showing a red spot on the pronotal sides. The geographic range of this group extends from Costa Rica to southern Brazil.
