Hexagrammos lagocephalus (Pallas, 1810) View in CoL .

Rock Greenling. To 61 cm (24 in) TL ( Miller and Lea 1972). Yellow and Japan Seas, and Sea of Okhotsk to Commander–Aleutian Chain (Mecklenburg et al. 2002), to southern California (34°15’N) (NWFSC-FRAM). Benthic; marine and brackish waters ( Dyldin and Orlov 2017); depth: intertidal to 80 m (262 ft) in eastern Pacific (min.: Miller and Lea 1972; max.: Mecklenburg et al. 2002) to 596 m (1,955 ft) in western Pacific ( Orlov 1998). Following Mecklenburg et al. (2002), Mecklenburg and Eschmeyer (2003), and some earlier authors, treatment here includes Hexagrammos superciliosus (Pallas, 1810) , which is classified by some authors as a distinct species. Molecular evidence presented by Crow et al. (2004) supports the existence of a single, widely distributed species.
