Heterospilus caetetus sp. n.

( Figs 10–14 View FIGURES 10 – 14 )

Female. Body length: 5.6 mm.

Colour: head dark brown to black, scape dark brown, pedicellum black, antenna dark brown with eight flagellomeres white, last seven flagellomeres dark brown; mesosoma black, mesoscutum reddish brown, mesopleuron dark brown in the middle bottom, venter of mesosoma dark brown; metasoma black; wing veins including stigma dark brown; legs pale yellow.

Head: vertex smooth; frons smooth with circular striations below the scape, face rugose ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 5 – 9 ); malar space shorter than ¼ eye height; temple in dorsal view somewhat narrow and sloping behind eye, width equal to ½ eye width; ocell-ocular distance 1.5–2.5 times greater than diameter of lateral ocellus; 32 flagellomeres.

Mesosoma: mesopleuron smooth, precoxal sulcus smooth, shorter than width of mesopleuron ; mesoscutum lobes smooth and hairy just along notauli; notauli scrobiculate prescutellar furrow with five cross carinae; scutellum smooth; propodeum with basal median areas smooth and margined, basal median carina absent, areolar margin indistinct, areolar area areolate-rugose, lateral areas entirely rugose, mesosternum smooth. Fore wing: vein r shorter than vein 3 RSa, vein 1cu-a beyond vein 1M, stigma width equal to length of vein r. Hind wing: vein SC+R present, length of vein M+CU shorter than vein 1M.

Metasoma: first tergum longitudinally costate, apical width at most equal to length; second tergum longitudinally costate, apical width three or less times length; third tergum costate basally, smooth apically; terga II+III with anterior transverse groove present, sinuose; posterior transverse groove present; terga IV–VII costate basally and smooth apically; ovipositor equal to ¾ length of metasoma.

Material examined. Holotype ( DCBU, 31290); female, Brazil, SP, Gália , Estação Ecológica Caetetus , 12.VII.2010, semidecidous mesophilic forest, vegetation sweep; A.S. Soares col . Paratype: 1 female, same data as holotype .

Comments. This species is similar to H. holleyae Marsh, 2013 , distinguished by the scrobiculate notauli, prescutellar furrow with five cross carinae, by its size which is relatively bigger than other species, and a sinuose anterior transverse groove on tergum II.

Etymology. The name of this species refers to the location in São Paulo state where it was collected.
