Bulletin trimestriel de l’Académie malgache 24: 84 (1942). — Type: “Groupe de plantes ramenées de la vallée du Fiherenana par H. Humbert en 1934, sous les nº 22 et 228 […] Le type de cette espèce est cultivé sur la rocaille du Jardin botanique.”

REMARK

Boiteau based this species on live plants cultivated at the Parc de Tsimbazaza and “ramenées de la vallée du Fiherenana par H. Humbert en 1934 sous les nº 22 et 228”. As there are no traces of Humbert herbarium specimens (nothing in the literature indicates that such specimens pressed from the live plants ever existed), the name published by Boiteau is illegitimate as the name was based on a group of live plants ( McNeill et al. 2006: Art. 8.4).
