Epipleoneura manauensis Santos 1964: 40 View in CoL –43, figs. 1–3, 7–8, 10–11, 15 (new species, description of male and female, illustration of male S 10 in lateral and dorsal view, male epiproct in middle posterior view, genital ligula in lateral and ectal view, male and female prothorax in dorsal view and female prothorax in antero-dorsal view, type material at MNRJ). Specimens examined. 59♂, 6♀. Holotype ♂, Brazil, Amazonas State, Manaus, Igarapé, between km 30 and 40 of Manaus - Itacoatiara Road (about 03º08’34”S, 58º26’38”W), leg. N.D. Santos, 27 x 1959. 5 ♂ paratypes, same as previous but leg. Olivera, vii 1962. 4 ♂ paratypes, same as previous but leg. N. Ferreira Jr. & A.B.M. Color pattern (not described in Santos 1964). Male: Head: Dorsally metallic green; anterior side yellow, except for black postclypeus; rear of head black ventrally, with two narrow yellow stripes bordering eyes; labrum and maxilla yellow.

Thorax. Dorsal half of prothorax metallic green, ventral half brown. Mesothorax metallic green with a brown band between mesepimeron and mesepisternum; metathorax brown.

Abdomen: S1–2 dorsally metallic green, sides brown, S3–6 dorsally dark brown, sides light brown, S7–8 dorsally black, sides brown, S9–10 black.

Female. Head: Dorsally metallic green; anterior side yellow, except for black postclypeus; rear of head black ventrally, with two narrow yellow stripes bordering eyes; labrum and maxilla yellow. Thorax. Prothorax dorsal half metallic green, ventral half yellow. Mesothorax metallic green with a yellow band between mesepimeron and mesepisternum; metathorax yellow. Abdomen: S1–2 dorsally metallic green, sides light brown, S3–9 dorsally brown, sides light brown, S10 brown.

Diagnosis. The cercus ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 25 – 27 ) and genital ligula ( Fig. 44 View FIGURES 28 – 47 ) resemble those of E. angeloi and Epipleoneura williamsoni and are diagnosed under the first species. The epiproct ( Figs. 27 View FIGURES 25 – 27 b–c) morphology is unique by its widened base, bifurcated and ventrally curved branches that are relatively long, parallel and join basally. Posterior margin of female pronotum ( Fig. 57 View FIGURES 53 – 66 ) is similar to those of E. humeralis and E. westfalli , with two erected lobes, that in E. manauensis are wider and with a deep V cleft between them.

Distribution. Northern Brazil in the State of Amazonas (type locality Óbidos, Curucambá river, 01º55’04”S, 55º31’04”W), Northern Venezuela, San Carlos-Solanos road, Cojedes State.
