( Figs 10–12 View FIGURES 9–16 , 58 View FIGURES 51–77 , 85 View FIGURES 78–104 , 112 View FIGURES 105–130 , 137 View FIGURES 131–156 , 162 View FIGURES 157–179 , 187 View FIGURES 180–205 , 213 View FIGURES 206–232 , 239, 240 View FIGURES 233–258 )

Diagnosis. Aedeagal shaft with apex curved laterally. Plate with posterior margin at 75° to median margin.

Etymology. Latin, dexter, right, and uncus, hook, for aedeagal shaft that is curved to the right.

Colour. Male & female. Vertex without fuscous marks, few tegmina cells with fuscous spots ( Figs 10–12 View FIGURES 9–16 ).

Dimensions. Male (n = 11). Lengths: apex of vertex to apex of tegmina 2.8–3.1 mm, apex of vertex to apex of abdomen 2.8–3.1 mm; vertex medially 0.5 mm; vertex laterally next to eye 0.3–0.4 mm; pronotum medially 0.3–0.4 mm; scutellum medially 0.3 mm. Maximum widths: head 1.0 mm; pronotum 0.8–0.9 mm; scutellum 0.4–0.5 mm. Ocellus: diameter 25–33 µm; ocellocular distance 39–50 µm.

Genital capsule. Male. Aedeagal shaft deflected laterad in dorsal view; shaft very long, 4.0 times as long as dorsal apodeme; dorsal apodeme short; gonopore ventral, subapical ( Figs 58 View FIGURES 51–77 , 85 View FIGURES 78–104 ). Connective as in Fig. 112 View FIGURES 105–130 . Plate elongate, apex truncate, angled at about 75° to median margin ( Fig. 137 View FIGURES 131–156 ). Pygofer lobe apex rounded ( Figs 162 View FIGURES 157–179 , 187 View FIGURES 180–205 ). Style apophysis narrow, tapering, slightly curved; almost reaching apex of plate; apophysis 0.6 times as long as median arm ( Fig. 213 View FIGURES 206–232 ).

Genital capsule. Female. Sternite VII elongate, apical margin with notch on short, right-angled process, notch wide, rounded or V-shaped ( Figs 239, 240 View FIGURES 233–258 ).

Dimensions. Female (n = 10). Lengths: apex of vertex to apex of tegmina 3.0– 3.2 mm, apex of vertex to apex of abdomen 3.2–3.4 mm; vertex medially 0.6 mm; vertex laterally next to eye 0.4 mm; pronotum medially 0.3–0.4 mm; scutellum medially 0.3 mm. Maximum widths: head 1.0– 1.1 mm; pronotum 0.9 mm; scutellum 0.5 mm. Ocellus: diameter 26–36 µm; ocellocular distance 39–48 µm.

Material examined. Holotype male. South Africa, Western Cape. Voëlvlei Dam, Gouda, 33°12ʹ27.6ʺS 19°2ʹ2ʺE, 90 m, 14.xii.2004, M. Stiller ( SANC). Paratypes (10♂, 12♀, 5 nymphs). Western Cape. 10♂, 12♀, 5 nymphs, ibid. holotype, DVac Aristida diffusa subsp. burkei , Cymbopogon marginatus and Pentaschistis barbata subsp. barbata (Poaceae) ( BMNH, SANC).

Remarks. Known only from a single locality. This place has probably been protected from regular fires and agriculture. The species most likely has a wider distribution, as all specimens are sub-macropterous and have normal hind wings. However, most of the surrounding habitats have been transformed into wheat growing areas with little natural grassland remaining. The curved aedeagal shaft bears some resemblance to that of E. falcatus , although the orientation differs, and its distribution differs significantly.
