Uniola spicata Linnaeus , Species Plantarum 1: 71. 1753 View Cited Treatment .

"Habitat in Americae borealis maritimis." RCN: 599.

Lectotype (Hitchcock in Contr. U. S. Natl. Herb. 12: 121. 1908): Kalm, Herb. Linn. No. 89.4 ( LINN; iso- UPS-KALM 26) .

Current name: Distichlis spicata (L.) Greene ( Poaceae ).

Note: Baum (in Canad. J. Bot. 45: 1848. 1967) argued that the Kalm collection, as it was not explicitly cited, cannot be the lectotype but should instead be treated as a neotype. However, it appears to have been original material for the name, and Hitchcock’s type choice is therefore accepted here.
